First/Second Policy Dialogue on Strengthening Community Resilience Against Radicalization and Violent Extremism Project

Event Description

The Africa Policy Institute in collaboration with the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies (IDIS), University of Nairobi (UON), will be hosting the first and second policy dialogue on strengthening community resilience against radicalization and violent extremism.

The project is funded by the Government of Japan and managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Other partners in this network include the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) among others.

The key research components of the project are;

  1. A Comparative Assessment of Disengagement and rehabilitation programs for returnees, and
  2. Assessment of Economic Impact of terror Activities in specific locales, namely; the Northern Kenya border regions (Garissa, Mandera and Wajir); the coastline border region of Kenya (Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu and Mombasa) and parts of Nairobi.
