The Murang’a County developed a strategic framework to aid in creating a systematic approach to thinking, planning and implementing alcohol and drugs recovery and rehabilitation programme. It is a community based program for victims of chronic alcoholism and local communities in Muranga County.
In developing this programme, API worked in association with Williams Hill Strategic Research and Communications Ltd and Sober Murang’a, a charitable organization devoted to eradicating the dual problems of alcoholism and drugs especially among the youth. The primary objective was to assist in planning and implementing the launch of the “Rehabilitation and Recovery of victims of Alcoholism and Drugs Addiction.”
The Murang’a County Government and its partners were also able to develop and implement a successful resource mobilization strategy that ensured that the objectives of the 4-steps rehabilitation and recovery model were met. A large number of youths were rehabilitated and the negative effects of alcoholism in the county were reduced. It was also evident that when the society is mobilised towards a cause, it able to garner the necessary resources required for it to succeed.
