THE API UKUMBI CENTRE

The API Ukumbi Centre initiative is a project of the Africa Policy Institute devoted to capacity building in policy relevant research and analysis. The centre, through its regular clinics, offers training on policy research, analysis and communication skills to upcoming policy researchers and analysts affiliated to universities, civil society organizations, relevant departments of governments and the private sector. The Ukumbi centre also runs networks of partners.

The Centre convened its inaugural clinic in November 2008. Some 20 laureates were successfully trained in research, analysis and dissemination as part of the API’s project on Ethnicity, Land and Conflict supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.  The Ukumbi Centre also supports the institute’s robust internship programme that attracts young researchers working on Africa affairs across geographical regions and gender.
