Kenya: Monitoring and research on reforms, peace-building, elite politics and party coalitions/power-sharing after the post-2007 election crisis; ethnicity, resources (land) and conflict and Kenya`s anti-corruption architecture and youth violence.
Rwanda: Research on ethnicity, land policy and conflict.
Somalia: Monitoring and research on the impact of state collapse and responses by regional and international actors to the humanitarian crisis relating to refugees and the threats of international Terrorism and piracy.
Sudan: Monitoring and research on the implementation of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) between Khartoum and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the South; responses by the African Union, the United Nations and other actors to the humanitarian crisis generated by the war in Darfur.
Tanzania: Research on identity, resources and conflict in mainland

Uganda: The humanitarian, transitional justice and peace-building issues surrounding the war in Northern Uganda involving the Lord’s Resistant Army and the government of

Regional Economic Communities (RECs)
EAC: Broadly, our work covers monitoring developments and research on the East African Community (EAC). API has a project on the EAC response to ethnic conflict relating to land and other resources in the region.
IGAD: Our operations relating to the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) centres on monitoring and research on the role of East Brigade (EASBRIG) of the Eastern African as part of the African Union standby force. API is also focusing on regional integration, resource governance and peace-building in this volatile region.
