Dr. Monica Juma, was recently appointed Kenya`s ambassador to the African Union, Ethiopia, Djibouti and IGAD. Dr. Juma was the Executive Research Director at the Africa Institute of South Africa, Pretoria and had previously been appointed to the United Nations-African Union Panel established in accordance with Security Council Resolution 1809 (2008).

Dr. Juma`s knowledge, experience and expertise in Peace & Security issues as well as African Affairs, will be invaluable to the African Union and IGAD`s Peacekeeping operations in the Horn of Africa Region. AU and IGAD have been facing enormous challenges in their efforts to strengthen peacekeeping capacity.
